Nano Nutraceuticals Formulation Evaluation Analytical Method Development and Validation

Abstract

In the present work, we have developed a simultaneous RP-HPLC method for quantification of Curcumin, CoQ10, and Resveratrol in bulk form and nutraceuticals formulation. The developed analytical technique for nutraceuticals is widely employed for their analysis in commercial formulations. RP-HPLC method is one of the most reliable and economical method for simultaneous method development due to their versatility, generalized availability, low-cost and simplicity. The present work is focused on the HPLC method development and validation for the simultaneous estimation of curcumin with Resveratrol, curcumin with CoQ10, CoQ10 with Resveratrol and combination of curcumin, Resveratrol and CoQ10. The developed HPLC method is found to be most reliable, economical and robust while compared to the available methods based on the published reports. There are no reported methods for selected combinations of nutraceuticals, but they have wide range of applications for therapeutic and clinical uses. The combination of the nutraceuticals can be easily estimated using the developed simple and robust HPLC method with short elution time, which will be most useful in running the quality control studies in the food and nutraceuticals industry. Further, the study is extended to development and evaluation of solid lipid nanoparticle loaded with various compositions of Curcumin, CoQ10 and Resveratrol. The developed solid lipid nanoparticle (SLN) was evaluated for the particle size, zeta potential, In-vitro release profile and stability studies. The results of FT-IR, Differential Scanning Colorimetry studies showed that the combinations of the chosen lipids are compatible with the nutraceuticals for development as there is no interference. The best formulation among the various trials was evaluated. The SEM and AFM analysis suggests that the developed SLN are spherical in shape. The particle size, Zeta potential and PDI studies proved that the developed SLN are in the desired size range with good stability. newline
