The study examines the role of Metropolitan Magistrates under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. It explores their role in ensuring due process during investigation and establishing equity and fairness during judicial proceedings. Additionally, it addresses the challenges in our criminal justice system and suggests improvements based on judicial precedents, Law Commission Reports and certain inquisitorial features. newline
