Abstract
Groundwater is a vital natural resource used as a reliable source of drinking water by many people around the world, especially in developing countries like India. Due to potential contamination, groundwater quality needs to be the focus of primary research and quality control. The present research work conducted to assess the physico-chemical and biological quality of groundwater in the Aspur and Sagwara blocks of Dungarpur district in southern Rajasthan.
newlineThe study was conducted in thirty randomly selected villages of the two blocks, during pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon seasons of the year 2020 and 2021. Therefore, collected samples were analysed using various Physico-chemical and biological parameters including colour, turbidity, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total alkalinity (TA), total dissolved solids (TDS), total hardness (TH), chloride ion (Cl-), fluoride ion (F-), nitrate (NO3-), phosphate (PO43-) dissolved oxygen (DO) and biological oxygen demand (BOD). All parameters were analysed according to the standard methods of APHA.The results were compared with drinking water standard prescribed by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and World Health Organization (WHO). A one-way ANOVA test was also applied to compare the groundwater parameters of water samples collected from different locations in the Sagwara and Aspur blocks.
