Abstract

The aim of this study is to make comparative study of financial inclusion newlineperformance of Indian banking sector with banking sector of selected countries. Financial inclusion plays an important role in breaking the clutches of poverty and reducing income inequalities in a country .The sustainable growth of a country depends on inclusive growth which in turn depends on inclusive financial system. Recognizing the importance of financial inclusion, strategies for inclusive growth have been given due weightage in the public policy of many countries and initiatives have been taken by government, financial regulators and financial institutions worldwide. Financial inclusion is a significant priority of every government in orderto provide financial services to the large section of un-served and underprivileged population of the country so that growth opportunities can be unlocked for poor in newlineparticular. Financial inclusion has got the attention of policymakers, central banks and researchers to explore more in this area to improve financial inclusion. Overall review brings out that only a few studies have been conducted in India to make a comprehensive study of performance of Indian banking sector towards financial inclusion.
