Abstract

Despite high economic growth and technology advancement, India accounts for 21% of the global burden of diseases with the greatest burden of maternal, new born and child deaths. Ensuring a healthy development of the child ought to be the primary concern of the country and in order to achieve success in this vision, it is necessary for a developing country like India to provide better healthcare monitoring solutions including digital solutions such as mobile health. The ubiquity of mobile technology offers a tremendous opportunity in the healthcare sector to have greater access to health facilities at reasonable rates. In spite of advancements in medical technologies, there is a prevalence of high maternal and child mortality rate in the low and middle income countries including India. These countries are still lag behind in achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets of maternal and child mortality rates. This generates a need to study mobile health interventions in maternal and child healthcare sector of the low and middle income countries including India. Also, it is critical to check the effectiveness of these interventions in maternal and child healthcare (MCH). newline
