Universal aspiration to excellence and quality Higher Education is vital for evolving, developing an unbiassed, balanced, just and fair society, social, cultural preservation, scientific advancement and progression, national integration apart from accelerating national development and growth. In this process, in India the role of Higher Education Institution is more significant and the role of the Private Universities post-independence is notable. At the time of Independence of India, the Nation had less than 20 Universities across the Country. There has been a phenomenal growth post-Independence India, which can be seen from the present, India has 1057 Universities., with a total of 421 State Private Universities, India has seen remarkable progress in the field of Higher Education. These figures do not reflect State Owned, both State and Central Universities, Institutions of National Importance established by the Government of India.
newlineThis exponential growth of universities, which cater to the Higher Education and Research in India is a welcome gesture and required too. However, it raises the question of whether it is going to be quotQuantityquot or quotQualityquot. This research aims to explore the role of the Private Universities in the State of Rajasthan and the issues relating to the Quality. The State of Rajasthan is selected in the backdrop of more than 80 Universities concentrated in the State of Rajasthan, out of which 52 are State Private Universities.
