Abstract
The requirement of energy is increasing day by day and the fossil fuels are depleting in a very fast manner. The conventional power generation systems impact the environment by more carbon emission. The rapid growth in distribution energy systems like PV, wind, etc., lead to the paradigm shift to clean and green energy generation. The distributed energy resources to be integrated with the existing grid which are jointly in operation together a new concept called microgrid is evolved. A microgrid is a group of distributed energy resources and local loads connected to utility grid which can be investigated under stand alone and grid connected modes of operation. The microgrid operation has the challenges related to economical, technical, administration power trading, etc. The maintenance of power balance, operating mode selection, energy storage devices control, security control and communication are some of the technical challenges in the microgrid. Due to change in demand and occurrence of fault an unbalance situation occurs between the source and demand
