Design of Encoder and Decoder for a Secure Image and Video Transmission Based on Compressive Sensing

Abstract

In a conventional image and video capture system, the acquisition of samples based on the Shannon/Nyquist sampling theorem, which demands the sampling rate is at least twice the maximum frequency present in the signal. In applications where the data rate is high, such as image and video processing, the Nyquist rate results in too many samples. Compressive sensing (CS) is a growing technology, which exploits the sparsity nature of the signal. According to CS, the signal with a sparse or near sparse representation in some domain can be reconstructed with high probability from fewer measurements, less than the Nyquist rate. And also, the secrecy in the information has to be protected; the security has to be imparted through encryption methods newline
