Abstract
An investigation into the Response of Summer Black Gram Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper to Biofertilizersquot was performed at MU, Rajkot, during Summer season of the years 2020 and 2021. The trial field was located in the North Saurashtra Agro climatic Zone of Gujarat State with typically subtropical characteristics. The soil had moderate levels of both available P and available K but little available N. The RBD was applied with 4 replications and 6 treatments in this experiment, as follows: (T1: Absolute control, T2: RDF 20-40-00 Kg NPK/ha, T3: 50 % RDF + Rhizobium inoculation, T4: PSM + 50 % RDF, T5: PSM + 50 % RDF + Rhizobium inoculation, T6: PSM + 100 % RDF + Rhizobium inoculation). This study aimed to investigate how various treatments affect the growth, yield characteristics, yield, protein content, and post-harvest soil NPK availability of Summer black gram.
newlineOverall, T6 resulted in the highest plant (43.90 cm) as well as the greatest No. of branches plant-1 (5.11) in pooled results. It demonstrated its superiority over all other treatments, except treatment T2, by achieving the highest values for test weight as well as No. of pods/ plant and also No. of grains /pod, grain and straw yield in each individual year and the pooled results. It produced a significant maximum grain yield of 989 Kg / ha, which remains statistically similar to T2. Also, Treatment T6 was significantly superior to other treatments in pooled results with a protein content of grains (25.18 %) and a maximum straw yield of 1972 Kg / ha. Except for treatment T2, treatment T6 demonstrated its superiority over all other treatments by achieving the highest values for post-harvest soil nitrogen availability of crop in each individual year and in the pooled results. Treatment T6 had significantly greater post-harvest soil phosphorus availability for the crop, but statistically, it was similar to T2 in each individual year. It is also significantly greater than other treatments in the pooled results. But treatment T1 (absolute control) recorded the low
