Abstract

The evolution of IoT has led the cross communication among various ubiquitous things, that had caused an unprecedented generation of voluminous data called as data explosion. To handle such a huge data, various computing mechanisms exists like cloud computing, edge computing and fog computing.Internet of Vehicles, a sub class of IoT has become a crucial paradigm due to increasing number of vehicles and developments in automobile sector. This thesis discusses the evolving role of vehicular communication, forming the foundation for the IoV in smart cities. IOV technology collects crucial vehicle related data such as road conditions, traffic congestions, velocity and precise position. This data provides advantages in choosing the best route and distributing messages effectively.Hence, this work presents innovative protocols and algorithms for communication in the Fog-IoV network, task offloading, selection of fog nodes and energy harvesting. The presented methodologies demonstrate exceptional performance metrics, offering vital insights for the developing field of Intelligent Transportation System. newline
