Abstract
A Mobile Ad-hoc Network MANET includes a set of independent mobile nodes which communicates with each other by means of radio waves The construction of nodes depends on the network actions and hence MANET has a dynamic shape and a limited bandwidth with complete wireless connectivity As MANETs are dynamic the network topology would change often Hence it is important to frequently update the network information at each and every node for achieving an efficient data routing The present research has developed the security mechanism against attacks with the help of protocols to address the security threats occurring during data transmission in MANET environment Several protocols like Ad-hoc Network Management Protocol ANMP and Internet routing protocol for efficient attack detection have been reported in literature Those protocols enable accommodating the sheer number and node heterogeneity of both independent as well as survivable for adapting to network dynamics However the limitations exist in terms of poor attack detection lower energy efficiency higher packet drop ratios and bandwidth consumption Thus the security of the given network cannot be ensured due to lower performance and significant reduction of overall efficiency The present study analyzes the security threats and the impacts of active vulnerable attacks posed on MANET In a view to detect black hole and grey hole attack in MANET Secured Dynamic Source Routing SDSR protocol has been proposed At first the trust based approach has been created to detect the malicious attacks The trust values are utilized to maintain a trust counter for enabling packet forwarding for each node
