Abstract
The individual or team players ability does not depend merely on physical,
newlinetechnical and tactical qualities but also on psychological considerations. Personality,
newlineself-concept, emotional maturity, motivation, emotional intelligence, anxiety, locus of
newlinecontrol, etc. are few important concepts of study in the field of sports
newlinepsychology.These psychological concepts play an important role in inducing
newlinesportsmen to exhibit the best possible performance during competition.Cricket is a
newlinegame that requires many psychological challenges and demands. So that players must
newlinedeal with psychological challenges and demands to become successful players. The
newlineaim of the present study was to study the self-concept, emotional maturity and anxiety
newlineof cricket players in relation to age, gender and area. For the present study with the
newlinehelp of random sampling techniques a huge sample of 400 Inter-Collegiate Cricket
newlinePlayers were finalized from colleges of Parbhani, Nanded, Latur and Hingoli districts,
newlineaffiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. Out of which
newline200 were male and 200 were female Inter-Collegiate Cricket Players belongs to urban
newlineand rural area. To measure the self-concept, emotional maturity and anxiety of Inter-
newlineCollegiate Cricket Players Saraswat s Self-Concept Questionnaire, Dr. Singh and Dr.
newlineBhargava s emotional maturity scale and Comprehensive Anxiety Test (SCAT)
newlinedeveloped by Sinhaand Sinhawere used respectively. In the descriptive statistics, the
newlinemeans and standard deviations were calculated and a 2x2x2 factorial design was used
newlinefor calculation of F ratios. Post-Hoc (Tukey HSD) Analysis was also used. The results
newlineof present study showed that 22 to 25 years age group of Inter-Collegiate Cricket
newlinePlayers had significantly high Self-Concept, emotional maturity and had low anxiety
newlinelevelthan the 18 to 21years age group of Inter-Collegiate Cricket Players. This study
newlinealso reveals that urban Inter-Collegiate Cricket Players had significantly high on selfconcept,
