Abstract
Meditation is a mental discipline which brings awareness to one s mind and body. It induces a
newlinemode of consciousness to realize benefits for mankind. It enables one to focus attention on a
newlinespecific point like on breath, on body or on mantra. It is considered as the most valuable tool for
newlinethe stress relief, improved mental clarity and pain reduction. Well Being is a positive outcome of
newlinelife. It is subjective only to pleasure. Whereas Subjective well-being (SWB) refers to how people
newlineexperience their quality of lives in relation to emotional reaction and cognitive judgment. The
newlinequality of life of an individual and a society is dependent on the amount of happiness and pleasure
newlinethey experience, as well as their relationship to human health. Therefore it is clear that both
newlineemotion intelligence and subjective wellbeing are mind and body related. To become emotionally
newlineintelligent and to ensure well-being, meditation remains as a back bone. Thus this research has
newlinetaken an initiative to study the impact of meditation on emotional intelligence and subjective
newlinewellbeing among the meditators irrespective of age, gender, educational qualification, place and
newlinetechniques of meditation followed.
