newlineAccording to the Alma Ata Declaration,1978 health is an integral part of the socio economic development of any country and Indian healthcare sector, is expected to grow at CAGR of 22.87 percent during 2015 to 2020. Though India is one of the large healthcare services provider but suffers from many snags. Uttarakhand is one of the first States to introduce decentralized district action plans covering all 13 districts and health sector presents a holistic approach to the health development and social development. The past studies on quality of health services focused on only quality matter, failed to present a comprehensive picture of the healthcare strategy from where the quality services are derived. Hence the study views the healthcare services as a holistic system, focuses on strategies, if considered, would have the ability to diminish or eliminate the deficiencies in the healthcare system of Uttarakhand. The objective of the study is to identify the impact of the healthcare strategies on the quality of health services in Uttarakhand. A quantitative research design is adopted to obtain understanding of the health system, health strategy, quality of services. The primary and secondary data led to the identification of a of research problems, probable causes and suggested solutions in. Two sets of structured questionnaires were designed for each of the focus group for health care professionals and patients or customers of hospitals. A total of 409 responses of healthcare professionals and 410 responses of patients feedback collected for analysis. The study revealed that there is an impact of health care strategies on the healthcare services. All strategies were first reviewed and verified internally and externally using a delphi technique. The research is an attempt to view the healthcare strategies adopted by health system in its totality for quality improvement also to guide the policymakers and programme coordinators to address the long standing deficiencies in the healthcare system in Uttarakhand.
