Abstract
Inverters find their applications along with DC-DC converters in distributed energy resources (DERs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and ac motor drives. The state-of-the-art inverters have several drawbacks such as limited voltage gain, low efficiency, high voltage stress and current stress, high failure rates etc. The output of the inverter with respect to power quality issues like less distortion factor, low displacement factor (DF), total harmonic distortion (THD) must be within standards. The inverter topologies required for medium and high-power applications should be of components with high power density. The above requirements have motivated the researchers to develop modified versions of impedance source inverters
