Abstract
The entire world has drastically changed due to fast and rapid changes brought about by Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This change has influenced the needs of the information society in a very challenging way. Today, an increasing amount of information is produced, identified, processed, stored, and shared digitally. This is possible because there are many ICT tools and programmes available for transferring, editing, storing, and disseminating this information. This process of information generation and dissemination also meets the various laid down parameters like timeliness, accessibility, accuracy, etc. Efforts are being made by numerous organisations at various levels to link them together so that they can be most effectively employed, regardless of whether it is in the field of education, research, science and technology, social sciences, etc. Research is pertinent to all sciences whether it is natural sciences, biological sciences or social sciences. Currently, the position of Social Sciences has undergone a radical change which is evident from the World Social Science Report-2010. The report says that social sciences are taught almost everywhere, are acknowledged on a global scale and the research findings are disseminated widely, with the help of modern digital technology. In addition to working as professors and researchers at universities, social scientists also hold expert positions in national governmental administrations, private businesses and as independent professionals. Social science expertise is in high demand by policy makers, media and the public. The research method selected for the study is the descriptive research with survey method.
