dc.description.abstractThis thesis discusses the natural convective flow on heat and mass transfer of an incompressible viscous fluid over moving semi infinite vertical cylinder in the presence of porous medium The various effects considered for the problem are temperature oscillation chemical reaction and magnetic field under various boundary conditions The numerical results are compared with the previous results in the literature and are found to be in good agreement In this analysis the cylinder is considered to be moving in the vertical direction against gravitational force with a uniform velocity The governing boundary layer equations which govern the flow model of the problem are simplified using Boussinesq s approximations These governing boundary layer equations along with the initial and boundary conditions are transformed into a dimensionless form and the resulting boundary layer equations are unsteady coupled non-linear Due to the complexity of the governing equations the solutions are solved by using a numerical technique The semiimplicit Crank Nicolson finite difference method is employed to solve the problems It is shown that this scheme is unconditionally stable newline
