Isolated and Combined Effect of Speed Agility and Quickness Training and Resistance Training on Selected Psychomotor and Physiological Variables among Sprinters

Abstract

Objectives: newlineThe purpose of the study was to examine the isolation and joint impact of SAQ and resistance trainings on specific psychomotor and physiological variables among sprinters. Implement three different training capsules for selected experimental groups to enhance the speed training determinants among sprinters and also to arbitrate which newlinetraining capsule yields the most substantial improvements in the targeted variables newlineamong the selected groups. newlineMethods: newlineSeventy four female intercollegiate level sprinters falling between the age ranges 18 to 23 were chosen for the study and divided into four groups using randomized control design namely SAQ training group (n=18), resistance training group (n=18), combined SAQ and resistance training group (n=19) as well as control group (n=19). All participants were assessed before and after 12 weeks of intervention. newlineStatistical techniques employed were paired sample t-tests, Analysis of Covariance newline(ANCOVA), and Scheffe s post-hoc test. newlineResults: newlineStatistical results revealed there was significant improvement found between pre and post test mean among sprinters on the chosen dependent variables on both isolated and combined training due to impact of twelve weeks of intervention whereas no significant development found in control group. Significance was tested at 0.05 level of significance. The statistical result also shows there was a notable difference newlineexists among three experimental groups and control group. newlineConclusion: newlineThe Outcome of the study demonstrated that both isolated training capsules exert distinct influences on sprinters performance, with SAQ training enhancing specific anaerobic power, and resistance training predominantly influencing muscle strength. Combined approach showcased a synergistic effect, highlighting the potential increase in reaction time, speed, co-ordination, explosive power, resting pulse rate and newlineoxygen saturation including muscle strength and anaerobic power that addresses multiple facets of sprinting prowess
