Supercapacitor also referred as ultra-capacitors or electrochemical capacitors has considerable interest owing to their remarkable specific power, long life cyclic stability and rapid charge discharge rates. The supercapacitor holds a significant position between conventional capacitor (having high power) and batteries (high specific power). The electrochemical performance of supercapacitor were influenced by numerous factors such as physicochemical characteristics of electrode material, structural morphology, surface area of the material, selection of electrolyte, separator, concentration of electrolyte. According to previous reports for supercapacitor application, researchers focused on new electrode material and electrolyte to improve the specific energy and specific power. In general the metal oxides, carbon based materials and conducting polymers were used as an electrode material for supercapacitor application. The perovskite type metal oxide (ABO3) such as LaFeO3, LaMnO3, SrRuO3 and BiFeO3 shows excellent electrochemical property due to their structural stability and inherent nature with oxygen vacancies. Among them, Bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) a multiferroic material having unique property such as ferromagnetic and ferroelectric directs the researchers to apply for various applications including supercapacitor. It is a suitable electrode material for supercapacitor due to its low cost, earth abundance and non-toxic nature. The transition metal doped bismuth ferrite may enhance the specific capacitance, specific energy, specific power and cyclic stability. newline
