Abstract

The research study is concerned with the socio-economic development in the Hisar district of Haryana . The study covers various aspects like history of the area, population in cities and rural areas, sex ratio, socio-economic profile and others. The research has found that the population of the rural areas are less compared to that of the urban agglomerations in the Hisar district of Haryana. Moreover, the sex ratio is imbalanced which indicates higher chances of girl foetal destruction prevalent in the district. Moreover, providing women equal position in the district is a mere dream. There is a necessity to improve women empowerment and concentrate on utilising women labour in the agricultural sector or other services for improving the financial and social conditions. newline
