Studies on conservation tillage practices and organic source of nutrients on the productivity of ragi pulse cropping system

Abstract

newline Field experiments were conducted at Central Farm, Agricultural College and newlineResearch Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Madurai during 2018-2019 and newline2019-2020 to investigatestudies on the conservation tillage practices and organic source of newlinenutrients on the productivity of Ragi-Pulse cropping system.The experiments were laid out in newlinesplit plot design with three replications. The main plot treatment consisted of three tillage newlinepractices viz.,T1- Conventional tillage T2- Minimum and T3- Plough sole tillage and the sub newlineplot treatments consisted of six sources of nutrients viz., O1- FYM + biofertilizer, O2- newlineVermicompost + biofertilizer, O3- Goat manure + biofertilizer, O4- Poultry manure + newlinebiofertilizer, O5- Press mud + biofertilizer and O6- Control (100% RDF). newlineThe results revealed that, the conventional tillage (T1) influenced the growth and yield newlineattributes and yield of ragi and black gram during 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. This was newlinefollowed by minimum tillage (T2) during 2018-2019 and was on par with the above treatment newlineduring 2019-2020. Among the source of nutrients, application of 100% RDF as control (O6) newlinerecorded the highest growth and yield attributes and yield of ragi and black gram during newline2018-2019 and 2019-2020. This was followed by poultry manure + bio fertilizer (O4) during newline2018-2019 and was comparable with the above treatment during 2019-2020. In newlinecombination,it was not significant on grain and straw/haulm yield of ragi and black gram newlinewith first year experiment during 2018-2019 and was found significant during 2019-2020, newlinecombination of conventional tillage with 100% RDF as a control (T1O6) was registered newlinehighest grain and straw/haulm yield and was comparable with combination of conventional newlinetillage with poultry manure + bio fertilizer ((T1O4), minimum tillage wither with 100% RDF newlineas control (T2O6) (or) with poultry manure + bio fertilizer (T2O4) during 2019-2020.The B: C newlineratio were higher under conventional tillage in combination with poultry manure + bio newlinefertilize
