Abstract
Induction motors are widely utilized in industrial applications and for residential
newlineapplication, the speed control is very accurate as for particular operation and at the same
newlinetime saving of electrical energy. Before the ac motor, for precise speed control dc motors
newlinewere used, as there is an option of controlling the speed and torque or flux independently.
newlineThough, after the availability of fast operating switches and power electronics devices, it
newlinehas become easy to limit the speed and torque an ac motor as similar to dc motor. The
newlinespeed and torque of the ac motors are control by changing the switching positions quickly
newlinewith the help of voltage source inverter.
newlineIn this dissertation variations and effect of torque ripple and different operating
newlinetechniques are implemented to minimize the torque ripples have been discussed and
newlinedifferent switching positions are also analyzed. Some of the reported methods are based
newlineon six sectors and are predictable direct torque control(DTC) technique and modified
newlineDTC to independently limit the speed and torque have analyzed, with which a new sector
newlinedirect torque control work has been accomplish with simulink using MATLAB. The
newlineoutput of simulations compared with the existing methods and on the parameters of rising
newlinetime, stator current, settling time, rotor speed, transient time, electromagnetic torque and
newlinetorque ripples.
