Abstract
newlineAs there is increased stress and strain in women due to professional and home environments cases of PIH
newlinehave drastically increased. This is a major risk factor in pregnancies resulting in maternal and fetal
newlinemorbidities and mortalities.Placental examination may identify the etiologies and pathological processes
newlinethat resulted in adverse effects for improving the management in subsequent pregnancies. This also will
newlinehelp in neonatal, perinatal health care and assessment of factors contributing to poor pregnancy
newlineoutcomes. In case of hypertension placental angiogenesis is of critical importance. Understanding any of
newlinethe structural changes, would be useful for the obstetricians and pathologists. It will also help in diagnosis,
newlineand prediction for the treatment of PIH in future,by knowing the microscopic and macroscopic.Despite
newlinethe understanding the benefits of examination of placenta, resistance to placental examination routinely
newlineexists. Hence there is a need to analyze placental changes in PIH (mild and severe hypertension)
newlineparticularly pre-eclampsia with a view to assess the significance of placental changes by histopathological
newlinemethods. These changes may serve as a guide to assess the severity of disease. There is a need to compare
newlinethe morphology, morphometry and histopathology of placenta of mild and severe PIH women with that
newlineof normotensive women and the impact on maternal and fetal parameters.
