Extraction Isolation and Evaluation of Antioxidants from Selected Fruit and Vegetable Peel

Abstract

newline In this study it was tried to better utilization of selected peels which are generally available in bulk amount as processing waste. The qualitative analysis of methanol peels extracts were showed the better presence of secondary metabolite like tannin, protein, carbohydrates, saponins, phenols and flavonoids as compare to the aqueous peels extracts. The methanol peels extracts were showed the higher yield than the aqueous. The highest yield of methanol extracts was found in pomegranate peel followed by sweet lime, bottle gourd, banana, ridge gourd and cucumber peel. Therefore, further study were consider on methanol extract. newlineThe quantitative analysis of methanol peel extract were tested and resulted that. newline1. The highest total carbohydrates was found in extract of sweet lime peel followed by pomegranate peel, ridge gourd peel, cucumber peel, banana peel and bottle gourd peel. newline2. Total protein content was found higher in pomegranate peel and lower was found in bottle gourd peel. newline3. Total tannin was higher in fruits peels as compare to vegetables peels in order to pomegranate peel and#707; sweet lime peel and#707; banana peel and#707; ridge gourd peel and#707; cucumber peel and#707; bottle gourd peel. newline4. Pomegranate peel extracts showed highest phenol content than other peel. The flavonoids content was found higher in sweet lime peel in order to sweet lime peel and#707; pomegranate peel and#707; banana peel and#707; bottle gourd peel and#707; cucumber peel and#707; ridge gourd peel.
