Investigation of quality of service and quality of experience for the improvement of video streaming in multimedia networks

Abstract

In this century, the use of mobile internet is been increasing with rapid developments in wireless networks. Also, the use of internet services in hand-held devices like mobile, tablets, etc. has shoot up the usage of the service. Out of which, the multimedia video streaming service is a popular application used by the mobile users. However, there exist a bottleneck in providing better quality services with less cost and either of the one has to be compromised. The evolution of Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless services made this bottleneck, an achievable one. The LTE features have made the multimedia application to achieve low latency and higher data rate using its specialized effective LTE services. However, modern LTE cellular network poses serious challenges to the network operators. The static configuration with several limitations in old telecommunication networks cannot fit the modern situation, specifically, for next generation wireless technologies. Since, the wireless network involves high dense base stations with wide features and uses the surplus technology with access media. So they can recognize the dynamic change in wireless newlinenetwork conditions with wide users. In this study, both Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) is studied and analyzed under LTE network conditions for video streaming applications. To attain this, the High Definition (HD) H.264/AVC videos are delivered to the users from the source to destination with the help of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) and Transport Control Protocol (TCP). The study specifically analyze the QoS/QoE tools in terms of packet loss, variation in delay and provides better performance to find the iv impact of video delivery in LTE network under DASH streaming server. newline newline
