Development of Power Operated Combination Tillage Implement

Abstract

Rajasthan is the largest state covering 10.5 per cent of geographical area and about 14 per cent of the total India s Agriculture land. Out of total India s population, 5.5 per cent population lies in the state and which about 2/3 population depends on agriculture. The biggest challenge before the agricultural sector of India is to meet the growing demands of food for its increasing population from 1.21 billion in the year 2011 to 1.6 billion by the year 2050. Therefore, it is important to optimize the available land and water resources to achieving maximum production. The existing cropping pattern has been same for many years and may not utilize resources at maximum economic efficiency. This can be achieved by increasing cropping intensity and reducing turnaround time through increased mechanization. newlineIt was reported in the studies that only one-third of the total energy input in conventional tillage operations was needed for the combination tillage implements to manipulate the soil for satisfactory seedbed preparation. Passive-passive combination tillage tool seems more promising, so the study area selected for the research work is passive-passive combination of tillage implements. Contd..... newline
