Abstract
The present investigation on subclinical ketosis in lactating crossbred cows was undertaken to study the epidemiological relation of incidence to age, breed, milk yield, stage of lactation, lactation number and month. Clinical examination and biochemical investigations were carried out on the positive animals. Therapy was attempted using parenteral and oral drugs in various groups of subclinical ketotic cows.
newlineA study was conducted to find out the prevalence of subclinical ketosis in 202 lactating crossbred cows belonging to three organized dairy farms viz, Dairy Experimental Station, Sri Venkateswara Dairy Farm and Mayura Dairy Farm by subjecting urine samples to Ross modified Rothera s test. An over all incidence of 43.56 per cent was recorded in these dairy farms. Among the three dairy farms, M D F recorded the highest (52.00%) followed by D E S (43.75%) and S V D F (40.44%). However, the difference in incidence among farms was statistically insignificant (Pgt0.05).
