Abstract
newlineWireless Sensor Networks WSN have been widely considered
newlineseminal among the most important technologies in the twenty first century
newlineThe smart sensor nodes of WSN are deployed in a physical area and
newlinenetworked through internet and wireless links which provide opportunities
newlinefor a variety of civilian and military applications Recent technological
newlineadvances in communications and computation have enabled the development
newlineof low cost low power small in size and multifunctional sensor nodes in a
newlineWSN
newlineA biggest challenge to the successful application of WSNs is
newlineenergy conservation since the tiny sensor nodes have very limited resources
newlinesuch as energy memory as well as communication and computation
newlinecapacities Once the sensors are deployed they are left unattended and battery
newlinerecharge is practically impossible Till now many studies have been carried
newlineout in energy efficient routing algorithms for WSNs viz flat hierarchical and
newlinelocation based routing Hierarchical routing protocols proved to be successful
newlinein saving considerable energy consumption in WSN Since the hierarchical
newlinerouting being dynamic cluster based routing method there will be frequent reelection
newlineprocess due to cluster head failure or when its energy level reduces to
newlinea certain threshold value
