Abstract
In this era of globalization, the role of the teacher has changed and become more
newlinedemanding. Teachers responsibilities have expanded in and out of the classrooms.
newlineThe teacher must possess the vital skills, abilities and competencies to impact the
newlinemotivation of students to learn and excel. To attain efficiency in every aspect of
newlineteaching, a teacher must have a high level of professional commitment. The physical
newlineeducation teacher must possess techno-pedagogical competence to make their
newlineteaching effective. In today s e-world, technological competencies and raised
newlineoccupational demands lead to stress on the teacher. Occupational stress on teachers
newlineleads to a decrease in their quality of education and reduces their professional
newlinecommitment too. The present study explored the status of occupational stress of
newlinephysical education teachers working in the senior secondary schools of the
newlineDirectorate of Education, Delhi with respect to their professional commitment and
newlinetechno-pedagogical competency. The present study is descriptive in nature and the
newlinesurvey method has been used. A census sample data of 472 physical education
newlineteachers working in the senior secondary schools of the Directorate of Education,
newlineGovt. of Delhi was collected. The data was collected using standardised tools viz.
newlineTeacher s Occupational Stress Scale, Professional Commitment Scale for Teachers
newlineand Teacher s Techno-pedagogical Competency Scale. The study showed that
newlinephysical education teachers have average occupational stress, techno-pedagogical
newlinecompetency and professional commitment. The technological pedagogical
newlinecompetencies, professional commitment, and occupational stress of these teachers
newlinewere not significantly influenced by gender and years of teaching experience. There is
newlineno significant relationship between occupational stress, professional commitment and
newlinetechno-pedagogical competence of physical education teachers working in senior
newlinesecondary schools under the Directorate of Education, Govt of NCT Delhi.
