Less hazardous and energy efficient synthetic methodologies development and application in nitro compounds synthesis

Abstract

Less hazardous and energy efficient synthetic methodologies have been developed for the nitro compounds synthesis and commonly used nitro-group containing drugs with the inception of green and sustainable chemistry. A two-step one-pot reactions have been developed for synthesis of nitrocoumarins from phenols and and#946;ketoesters using bio-based, inexpensive and easily available cellulose sulfuric acid as a acid catalyst. A new task-specific nitrite-based ionic liquid, i.e., 3- (ethoxycarbonyl) -1- (5-methyl -5- (nitrosooxy) hexyl) pyridin-1-ium bis (trifluoromethanesulfonyl) - imides has been synthesized as nitro-source as well as solvent and explored its remarkable applications in the synthesis of nitro compounds and commonly used NO2-containing drugs. Some novel protocols for ipso-nitration has been developed of a series of aliphatic, aromatic and (hetero)aromatics including biologically active nitro drugs from cheap and easily available starting precursors. newline
