Abstract

The design of bidirectional DC-DC converter in micro grid is an newlineessential process for energy efficient power system operations. In the newlineproposed research contribution, the micro grid system consist of renewable newlineenergy sources such as solar and wind and the hybrid energy sources such as newlinebattery and super capacitor. The generated power from solar and wind is newlinehighly non-linear and fluctuating in nature, the attainment of stable power newlinesystem operation is a tedious process, so this problem statement is addressed newlineby the proposed research contribution. newlineThe initial contribution of the proposed thesis is design of bidirectional newlineDC-DC converter for PV module connected with hybrid storage elements newlinesuch as battery and super capacitor. The power flow between the hybrid newlinestorage elements and the PV module is controlled by fuzzy logic controller. newlineThe rule bases are framed based on the possible operating modes of the newlineconverter. newlineIn the second contribution a micro grid system is framed based on newlinecombing the renewable energy sources such as solar and wind with hybrid newlinestorage elements such as battery and super capacitor. The closed loop control newlineof the system is made by PI controller and Incremental Conductance newlineAlgorithm is implemented to track the maximum power available from the newlinesolar and wind based energy sources. newlineTo improve the performance of the designed converter, optimal control newlinesignals are provided by introducing Recurrent Neural Network based control newlinealgorithm. newline
