newlineABSTRACT
newlineThe present investigation entitled Studies on influence of hydrating
newlineagents, calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) and sodium nitroprusside (SNP)
newlineon vegetative growth, flower yield, quality and heat tolerance capability of
newlinemarigold cv. Bidhan-2 was carried out during summer from 1st week of March
newlineto end of July, 2020 and 2021 at College of Horticulture, Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural
newlineUniversity, Anantharajupeta, Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh. The
newlineexperiment was laid out in a randomized block design with factorial concept
newlineusing three factors viz., hydrating agents, calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) and
newlinesodium nitroprusside (SNP). The data recorded during the course of investigation
newlineon various direct measurable parameters viz., morphological, reproductive,
newlineflower quality, flower yield and certain estimated parameters viz., growth
newlineanalysis, physiological, biochemical and nutrient uptake by the plant as well as
newlinethe residual nutrient content available in soil i.e., after harvest of flowers were
newlinestatistically analyzed and the results were summarized and concluded.
newlineIn between the hydrogels, soil application of Pusa hydrogel at 1.25 g m-2
newlineexhibited significant positive influence on soil bulk density, water holding
newlinecapacity, plant height, flower yield, chlorophylls content, physiological activities
newlineand the antioxidative enzymes activity in comparison to Zeba hydrogel.
newlineAmong the graded levels of nitrogen applied in soil, 100% nitrogen in the
newlineform of CAN recorded significant positive influence on highe
