Abstract
In recent years, enormous amount of digital images and videos are available, owing to
newlinerapid advancement in technology. Areas as varied as art, medicine, natural scenes,
newlinephotography, astronomy etc. have found significant applications of image processing.
newlineAdvanced digital equipment and machines are being used to acquire imagery
newlinenecessitating the need for systems to process the volume of images. This has paved the
newlineway for building commercial as well as academic Content Based Image Retrieval
newline(CBIR) systems. Information management became a keyword in all areas of application.
newlineIntegrating information frameworks to medical systems is one of the major challenges of
newlinethe past decade. Very few works have attempted and tried to address the problem which
newlineis of great significance and holds immense potential to serve the needs of our society.
newlineThe research area is still in its nascent stage and there is lots of scope for innovation and
newlineimprovisation. Medical information management can solve several problems like aiding
newlinethe medical practitioners and experts in diagnosing a pathology, monitor the progress of
newlinea disease and give valuable information in devising a treatment plan based on past case
newlinehistories.
