Cloud computing is a novel paradigm which enables ubiquitous, newlineon-demand, convenient network access to a shared pool of computing newlineresources, that are flexibly provisioned and released with minimal newlinemanagement effort or service provider interaction. The cloud resources are newlineavailable in the Data Centre (DC), which are geographically distributed in the newlinecloud environment. The computing resources namely Virtual Machines (VM), newlinestorage resources and networking resources are the basic elements of the data newlinecentre in cloud computing. Cloud computing is composed of five essential newlinecharacteristics, three service types and four deployment models. The essential newlinecharacteristics are multi-tenancy, scalable, service oriented, virtualized, selfhealing newlineand backup. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service newline(SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) are the basic services provided by newlinecloud computing. Private Cloud, Public Cloud, Hybrid Cloud and Community newlineCloud are four basic deployment models of cloud computing. Reduced IT newlinecost, scalability, flexibility, automatic updates and business continuity are the newlinebenefits of cloud computing. The main goal of cloud provider is to achieve more profit always. Profit means maximum income from the investments. Resource provisioning in cloud is a challenging issue as the user demands vary time to time. As the cloud provider has fixed amount of resources, during lesser demands, the newlineresources are underutilized whereas in peak hours, it may reject the user newlinerequest. As the user demands vary dynamically, the cloud provider has to newlinemanage and deliver the resources to satisfy their needs newline newline
