Atrocities against scheduled caste women a study of select districts of Haryana

Abstract

The study has investigated the major causes for the increase of the atrocities against Scheduled Caste/Dalit women of Haryana in the selected districts of Hisar and Panchkula. The findings have shown that more crimes are committed, ranging from verbal abuse to the rape and murders against those who belong to low socio-economic strata of the society. The key finding of the study were that the SC women were lacking education, poor and unemployed, were economically dependent on your husbands, were unaware about the laws protecting them but the NGOs, SHGs and media were playing proactive role in addressing atrocity against them. newline
