the study entitled gynocentrism in the novels of shashi deshpande
newlineis an attempt to highlight the suppressed womanhood as depicted in
newlinedeshpande s novels it aims at showing how the heroines of deshpande
newlinetrapped by family and society suffer from an acute sense of emptiness in life
newlinehow they struggle to abolish gender discrimination and seek reciprocity and
newlineharmony in life but ultimately realise that the safest place for them is their
newlineown family and finally get accommodated to the society in which they live at
newlinethe outset gynocentrism has been discussed by tracing its origin from the
newlinevedic period to the present the views of different women writers with regard
newlineto gynocentrism have been discussed to study deshpande s novels from this
newlineperspective the study analyses the masculine plot that entraps women and
newlinerestricts them from exhibiting their true self simultaneously the traumas
newlineagonies conflicts and dilemmas undergone by the women protagonists are
