Crisis in Higher Education Institutions a Comparative Study of Two Central Universities Established Under Central University Act of 2009

Abstract

Higher education in India since its independence, has transformed from a small newlineelite system to a large popular one. With continuous efforts made by the newlinegovernment of India, the higher education has accomplished a great deal in the newlinearea of social justice and equalization of educational opportunity. newlineIn accordance with above mentioned context, Government of India has created newline12 Central Universities in different states of India under Central University Act, newline2009, to provide higher education to the citizens residing at their door step and newlinemaking each individual to have access to higher education. newlineThe purpose of the study is to investigate the factors leading to the crisis in higher newlineeducational institutions created under 2009 Parliament Act and to understand the newlinescope of improvement in selected sample universities on the basis of selected newlineparameters. newlineIt is of general understanding that a period of one decade is enough for any new newlineeducation institution for setting up its administrative and academic departments newlinewith sufficient and quality infrastructure with varied facilities. Hence, there is a newlineconsiderable scope in providing and increase in funds for institution established newlineunder Central Universities Act, 2009. Moreover the governance system of newlineuniversities should appreciate student s participation, case studies on newly newlineestablished institutions should be encouraged by the government simultaneously. newline
