Abstract
This experimental study aims to investigate the Effect of the Value Based Intervention Program on the Self Concept and Emotional Intelligence of adolescents on a sample of 240 adolescent students of IX class from rural and urban private senior secondary schools of Ludhiana. The value based intervention program is Touch the Light published by Youth Wing,Rajyoga Education andResearch Foundation,Mount Abu,Rajasthan (2007) was applied. The Self-Concept Questionnaire (2011) by R.K.Sarswat was used to assess the self-concept and Emotional Intelligence Scale (2011) by Hyde, Pethe and Dhar was used to measure the emotional intelligence Findings revealed that the experimental group s self concept and emotional intelligence increased from the pre-test towards the post-test and, enhanced at a significant pace compared to control group s self-concept and emotional intelligence. There is no significant difference in developing self concept and emotional intelligence of boys and girls as well as urban and rural adolescents. Experimental group gave favourable reactions towards the effectiveness of program. Consequently, this study would be useful to create congenial environment in schools to develop a balanced personality of adolescents.
