Abstract
Internal combustion engine manufacturers are under increasing pressure to
newlineproduce cleaner and efficient CI (Compression Ignition) diesel engines to meet the
newlinestringent emission standards. Hence, engine modifications and exhaust after treatment
newlinedevices are considered by them to reduce emissions. Nevertheless, oxygenate additive
newlineblending with diesel or oxygenate fuel replacing the diesel are considered by the
newlineresearchers worldwide to reduce emissions. Obviously, the oxygenate additives or
newlineoxygenate fuels not only reduce the emissions but inflict alteration in the brake specific
newlinefuel/energy consumption and brake thermal efficiency of the engine. Therefore, a
newlinecomprehensive model is necessary to predict the performance by computer simulation
newlineso as to identify the performance improving oxygenate additives or oxygenate fuels for
newlinethe CI engine in a short time with less cost and number of experiments
