Abstract
The present investigation entitled Combining ability and gene action analysis for some metric and quality traits in table pea (Pisum sativum L. var. hortense) was carried out with objective of identifying the most suitable parents and single cross hybrids involving parents with high gca effects for yield contributing traits. During Rabi, 2019-20 the ten genetically diverse lines were crossed with three testers at Vegetable Research Farm established in the department of vegetable science in Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kalyanpur, Kanpur. During Rabi 2020-21 the 30 F1 crosses along with one standard check (Azad Pea-3) and thirteen parents (lines and testers) were evaluated. The observations were recorded on Days to 50% flowering, Node number of first flower, Inter-nodal length, Number of primary branches, Days to first picking of pods, Average pod length, Number of pods per plant, Average pod weight, Number of seeds per pod, Average plant height, Seed shell percent, Protein content percent, Lysine content percent, Iron content and Green pod yield per plant.
