Abstract

Aluminium alloy is a material obtained by alloying the Al with newlinesome other elements like copper, manganese, magnesium, silicon, zinc etc. newlineAl is the predominant element and other elements are added with less newlinequantity. Since the aluminium is the light weight material, it is used in the newlineapplications like aerospace, marine and automobile sectors for energy saving newlinepurposes.AA8090 alloy is one the aluminium alloy material manufactured newlineby combining Al with Li and is known as Al-Li alloy. This material newlinepossesses least density in the aluminium alloy series because of the low newlinedensity of Li element. AA8090 alloy is preferred for aerospace applications newlineto fabricate the wings, window frame, wheel rims and gear boxed. Further, newlinethis material is used in military applications to manufacture the weapons and newlinefighting vehicles. Despite it has enormous applications, it has a limitation like newlinepoor wear resistance and corrosion resistance. These behaviors made limited newlineusage of this material in certain applications where wear and corrosion are newlinedominant. Hence, this problem should be addressed to extend the newlineapplicability of material further and to enhance the performance of the newlinematerial. Earlier researchers have tried to solve these types of problem in newlinesome other materials by particle strengthening mechanism. newline newline
