Studies on QoS enhancement of IEEE 802 11s based wireless mesh networks

Abstract

Wireless Mesh Network is proposed for applications such as military home enterprise and community networking, because of their easy deployment low cost and extensibility This thesis presents the studies and investigations conducted on newlineIEEE 802 11s based Wireless Mesh Networks to enhance the quality of service of the network performance The study focuses on improving the routing performance increasing the scalability of the network providing security both in cryptographic and non cryptographic formats and designing of an adaptive algorithm for interoperability newlineA study was carried out to understand the concepts of WMNs IEEE 802 11s standard developed for WMNs, and the Hybrid Wireless Mesh Routing Protocol From the study it was inferred that many research issues need to be sorted out in IEEE 802 11s based WMNs Since the HWMP is a very basic protocol there is a need to improve its routing newlinecapability The HWMP is not a scalable protocol and is vulnerable to various types of attacks during routing and packet forwarding newline newline
