Abstract
Urban agglomerations are under the twin pressures urbanization
newlineand globalization and cities in India are no exception to this The effect of this
newlineis profound on the urban fabric in areas where old settlements are in long
newlineexistence The factors and elements that are attributed to positive
newlineenvironmental quality are multi disciplinary in nature ranging from social
newlineeconomic cultural administrative political and physical Factors that lead to
newlinea positive environmental quality are found to vary with age of settlement and
newlinescale of analysis
