Abstract
Emotional intelligence is significant for predicting psychological well-being and organizational commitment because, in the service sector, employees have to deal with clients, so it is very important to manage emotions. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the impact of emotional intelligence on organizational commitment and psychological Well-Being as a mediating variable. The study was conducted among academicians working at higher education institutions in Delhi-NCR. Education sector in our country is very vast, diverse, and one of the largest in the world. India s education system encompasses a wide range of institutions, from traditional schools to modern universities, that work according to the different levels and fields of study. The Education system in India is divided into different categories, such as Pre-primary education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Higher Secondary Education and Tertiary education. The education sector in India is undergoing significant transformation.
newlineThis current research study investigates the demographic profile, academic level, and various psychological variables influencing academic employees, with a focus on emotional intelligence (EI), psychological well-being (PWB), organizational commitment (OC) and employee engagement (EE). The study helps us to know that emotional intelligence has a significant impact on both psychological well-being and organizational commitment, with psychological well-being serving as a key mediator in these relationships. The analysis also highlights the moderating role of employee engagement, suggesting that high levels of engagement amplify the positive effects of emotional intelligence on organizational commitment. Overall, the research highlights the importance of emotional intelligence, psychological well-being, and employee engagement in fostering organizational commitment among academic employees, offering valuable insights for improving academic workforce management and development.
