In recent days, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) has high demand in various emerging industries due to its advancements. Several real time applications like telecommunication, mobile computing, healthcare industries and agriculture are largely utilizing the WSN infrastructure and topologies. Though the applications under WSN meets different challenges like universal identifies, cannot use IP based identification for the sensor nodes, more traffic related problems due its high sensing capabilities, lot of restrictions in sensing distance and energy efficiency etc. Also, recent applications are cloning into cloud automatically due to its increasing volume of data; it needs data centers to persist their data. From the set of challenges, this research work considers the traffic enhancement is the main problem and it aimed to provide solution. In order to provide a better solution, the WSN topology and the sensor nodes belong to the application are bringing under the control of Software Defined Networks (SDN). Because SDN can separate the data plane, control plane and the application plane separately, but the functionalities of all the planes are active parallel. Means the functionality of one plane does not affect the other plane, where it helps to improve the network traffic. In this research work the SDN-WSN is incorporated into cloud for data storage and retrieval. The sensor nodes are directly communicating with the cloud environment and the sensor cloud must be controlled in terms of logic, data and application process. This can be provided by SDN based WSN where it controls the sensors in cloud applications and improves the traffic highly. To verify the efficiency of SDN-WSN a context aware framework is designed, implemented and applied in different applications. Healthcare and Agriculture are two different applications considered in this research work and experimented. Even though, the applications are surveillance monitoring applications, Healthcare application is considered as an indoor application and the ag
