Classification and Risk Analysis for Cardiovascular Disease Using Carotid Artery Images and Biochemical Parameters

Abstract

In most of the developing and developed nations Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is considered to be a life threatening disease that happens due to blockage in the blood vessel of the coronary artery. The major risk factors of heart failure and CVD are hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, cigarette smoking, obesity and development of atherosclerosis. Stiffness of the artery wall varies in all these risk factors. Carotid artery is one of the major arteries present in the neck region nearer to the heart. Any blockage in blood vessel of carotid artery can lead to the risk of heart failure. Various techniques have been used to identify the blockage in blood vessels, which are invasive and have certain risk associated with them. The ultrasound imaging technique is considered a harmless, non-invasive method used for obtaining carotid and femoral artery image newline
