Abstract
This study takes a closer look at how three powerful Industry 4.0 technologies namely Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics and Blockchain Technology are reshaping marketing strategies in India s Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. With Marketing 4.0 emphasizing digital transformation and customer-centric approaches, the research aims to explore how these technologies are being used by FMCG firms to stay competitive, build stronger customer relationships and make informed decisions.
newlineThis research uses a mixed-method approach. The study began with in-depth interviews with 26 FMCG industry professionals. It is to explore how these technologies are being adopted and identify the specific areas they influence. This was followed by a survey involving 281 FMCG professionals. The findings were analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM).
newlineFor Artificial Intelligence, the results highlight its growing role in personalization, engaging customers in real-time, automating marketing tasks and helping firms achieve their broader strategic goals. Artificial Intelligence is enabling companies to better understand customer needs and deliver highly targeted, efficient marketing experiences.
newlineBig Data, on the other hand, is helping firms dig deep into customer behavior, allowing for personalized targeting, real-time insights and more effective campaign planning. It emerged as an essential technology for companies looking to stay agile and make data-driven marketing decisions.
newlineBlockchain shows strong potential when it comes to improving transparency, securing consumer data, enhancing product traceability and enabling safe digital payments. These capabilities are making marketing operations more secure, trustworthy and efficient.
newlineTogether, these three technologies are not just supporting existing marketing functions of Indian FMCG firms but also, they are transforming them. By combining Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Blockchain Indian FMCG firms are finding new ways to connect with customers, streamline operations and stand out in a competitive digital marketplace. This research offers a practical framework for how firms can strategically use these technologies to unlock long- term value and competitive advantage in the era of Marketing 4.0.
