Abstract
Over the last thirty years there has been an explosion in our
newlineknowledge of the biochemical machinery of the nervous system In the last few
newlineyears with the advent of new imaging technologies such as computed
newlinetomography imaging CT it has been possible to explore the anatomical and
newlinefunctional structure of the human brain The visualization of the different tissues
newlineand their analysis has opened up a new dimension to the neuro anatomical and
newlinefunctional disorders that might exist within the human brain These advantages
newlineof these imaging modalities like CT and MRI Magnetic Resonance Imaging
newlinehas to offer will be fully exploited only through intelligent interpretation of the
newlinedata This has been the major limitation in realizing the potential of the imaging
newlineThus the sophisticated and optimal analysis of the data is the need of the hour in
newlinethe field of neuro medicine
newlineComputed Tomography imaging is though expensive because of
newlinecapital costs is easy to perform because of its noninvasive nature It is clearly
newlinevery important to extract the maximum possible information from any image
newlineobtained However image processing modes based on scan sections or
newlineradiographic views may not completely provide diagnostic information at an
newlineearly stage when it would be easier to control a disease make a therapeutic
newlinedecision or perform surger
