Abstract
White Spot Disease WSD a major threat to shrimp aquaculture
newlineindustry is caused by White Spot Syndrome Virus WSSV WSSV is a large
newlinenonoccluded bacilliform enveloped dsDNA virus It first appeared in the
newlineepizootic of Taiwan during the year 1992 and later spread to all shrimp
newlinefarming nations around the globe The cumulative economic loss due to
newlineWSSV epidemics has crossed over 8 billion dollars since its first appearance
newlineSeveral studies using various vaccination and prophylactic approaches have
newlineshowed promising results of shrimp protection against WSSV challenge In
newlinethis study we had tried protein DNA vaccination and bimodal vaccination
newlinecombination of both protein and its perspective DNA vaccine candidate
newlineusing VP28 VP281 and ICP11 as vaccine candidates to achieve better
newlinesurvival Unfortunately none of these approaches were found to be effective
