Lifestyle related diseases among doctors in Punjab a sociological study

Abstract

The focus of present study is to determine the prevalence of lifestyle related diseases among doctors in Punjab. The incidence and risk factors of these diseases are found to be high among doctors. The main reason accountable for the presence of these diseases is the unhealthy lifestyle. Unhealthy lifestyle among doctors included unhealthy and untimely food intake, physical inactivity, consumption of tobacco products and alcohol, stressful working conditions etc. The study suggests that lifestyle related diseases are preventable if a healthy lifestyle is followed. Also, efficient management of these diseases can be done by following different coping strategies such as regular intake of medicine, active daily routine, healthy diet pattern, routine health check-ups etc. Thus, healthy lifestyle is the key to prevent and manage the lifestyle related diseases. newline
